This Easter, I was lucky enough to visit and explore Bucharest, and their no. 1 tourists attraction, the viral spa, Thermae!

I had been wanting to visit for such a long time and from what I saw, it always seemed to good to be true. To have an entire spa day in the UK is always an expensive experience, and you’re usually scrapping for good deals and looking for the best value, e.g. how many hours facility time you actually get, and if the price is worth it for the amount of treatment time you get.

My friends and I booked flights on Ryanair for the Easter break, which were pretty pricey at around £180 pp ($240 approx) for a 3 hour flight.

Between 6 of us we booked a gorgeous apartment on Booking.com. The city centre is about a 40 minute drive away from the airport (STD-OTP) and we were able to easily order an Uber for about £20.

So onto the spa day! We booked in advance and downloaded the app. The app meant we could check the zones we booked (There are 3 zones, more on that later) and it kept our ticket safe. We arrived before opening time. It is conveniently 10 minutes away from the airport, so if you did want to swing by for a very quick trip, you can very easily get there from the airport, again via Uber. The place is huge, like a huge greenhouse. When we arrived at around 9.40am, there is a queue to join (but when we arrived there were only a handful of people) There’s also toilets and a coffee/pastry shop in this space, to keep you going whilst you’re waiting.

Once 10am comes, you’re through to the tills where you’ll be given a wristband which you will tap to make purchases and also enter/re-enter zones. It’s mandatory to wear flipflops, swimwear and a robe whilst in the spa, and if you don’t have a robe you need to rent one (I think this was around £4.50) As a hand luggage lady, (and as you know, Ryanair) I was happy to rent a robe and not bring one with me. I also rented a towel, for around £2.

The changing areas are mixed, but there are lots of private changing rooms. Lockers are also lockable with your wristband. The changing rooms are clean and very big! What I also liked was the very long hair dryer bar!

As we got there so early, we nabbed our sunbeds and set up camp for a long yet relaxing day. We thought it would be quiet for a Monday, but as the day progressed it was actually quite busy. However, the place is so large, it never felt overwhelming. From asking staff (and going back there on Wednesday!) the busiest days to visit are Friday-Monday.

There are 3 zones- Galaxy, Palm and Elysium. Galaxy is where there are slides (which are pretty great) Palm
